Dr. Justin Strickland is an Assistant Professor in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. His research focuses on the use of behavioral economics as a theoretical framework to address issues of public health significance to include substance use and sexual health. This work applies a translational pipeline of preclinical animal research, human laboratory assessment, and clinical trials to evaluate choice and decision-making processes at the intersection of the self (e.g., genetic predisposition, reinforcement history) and setting (e.g., environmental cues, alternative reinforcers). Dr. Strickland also studies the behavioral mechanisms underlying cannabinoid and psychedelic drug effects and putative treatment efficacy.
